Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's existence is one of football scholarships, family involvement as well as community involvement. The first is his family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on an Eufala farm. Second football he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award as the top lineman in America. The three years he was a starter Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained his degree in education. Fourth service In college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. Following graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa and spent the next nine years playing for the Buccaneers. There were three times he was named All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. His first job was as a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that the year 1982 was when the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
