Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. [7][8] Born and raised on the outskirts of Barcelona The singer was described as an "atypical pop star" because of her genre-bending music styles. Her passion for music was ignited by Spanish folk music when she was just 13 years old. She studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music and also performed at weddings. Blending flamenco and hip hop and pop music, the album spawned "Malamente" (single) and "Pienso in tu mira (single). Both singles have been hugely successful and were praised by critics across the world. El Mal Querer, who was honored with the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year and is listed in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time was the catalyst for Rosalia's rise to the international scene of music. [12][13(13) Rosalia was a pioneer of urbano music through her 2019 releases "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti x Tu x Mi", having global success. She gave reggaeton an experimental spin on her third album Motomami (2022), departing from the brand new flamenco sound of her previous album. With singles "La Fama," and "Saoko" the album was a big success across the globe and was deemed to be the most well-reviewed album of the year by Metacritic. In her entire career, Rosalia has accumulated ten number-one singles in her home country, which is the highest number for an artist from the country. She also has won two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the year awards), four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among other awards. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the current music landscape with her flamenco-influenced pop"[1818. She was also the first Latino-singing artist to be nominated by the Grammys for Best New Artist. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Her family has no artistic backgrounds She is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who has a family-owned business which specializes in metalworks. Rosalia became interested in the performing arts in her early years especially after discovering the discography by Camaron de La Isla. She began her music education at the Taller de Musics [es].
